FAQ

General Product Information:

What is Petonimo?

Petonimo is a natural supplement for dogs and cats made to support their joint health and mobility.

Why should I give Petonimo to my dog/cat?

Petonimo delivers a potent mix of over 90 fatty acids including EPA, DHA, DPA, and naturally occurring astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant. This combination of ingredients has been shown in clinical research to improve joint mobility and support joint health. Antinol Plus has also been clinically proven to work better and faster at improving mobility in dogs than glucosamine and chondroitin, one of the most common joint supplements available.

Where is Petonimo made, and what are the origins of the ingredients?

Petonimo is manufactured in the USA from globally sourced ingredients. It is made with green-lipped mussels that are sustainably farmed in the pristine waters of the Marlborough Sounds in New Zealand (which are reported among the cleanest waters on earth) and Antarctic krill which is sourced from the nutrient-dense waters around Antarctica.

What are the soft gels made of?

The soft gel capsules of Antinol Plus are made of bovine gelatin.

Is Petonimo covered by my pet insurance?

Most pet insurance providers do cover supplements like Petonimo, especially if they are recommended by your veterinarian as part of a treatment plan for a specific condition. Coverage can vary depending on your provider and policy, so we recommend checking directly with your insurance company to confirm your benefits.

What is the difference between the initial 4-weeks and maintenance for dogs?

  •  If they weigh up to 44 lbs: start them off at 2 Petonimo soft gels per day, for the first four weeks. If after that time they are doing well on that amount, you can keep them at a daily maintentance amount of 1 – 2 soft gels per day.

How should I feed the fish-tail soft gel to my cat?

You may either give it to your cat whole, or twist off the fish-tail with your hands or with scissors and squeeze the contents of the soft gel at mealtime.

What if my dog/cat is a picky eater?

  • Dog parents tell us they use pill pockets, wraps, or put Petonimo in their dog’s favorite treat. You can also freeze the soft gel to hide the marine smell, however, do not heat the soft gel. You can even puncture the tiny soft gel with a sewing needle and squeeze the contents into their food or treat.
  • For cats, you may simply twist off the end of the soft gel and dispense the contents.

Ingredients

What are the active ingredients in Petonimo?

Green-lipped mussel oil and Antarctic Krill oil.

Why is sorbitol included in Petonimo?

We include sorbitol in Petonimo to help make sure the soft gel capsules are sealed properly. This is important to ensure that the product is of high quality. Sorbitol is commonly used in the industry because it works well with krill.

Sorbitol is a safe and non-toxic excipient that is used in many supplements. In dogs, several studies have shown that doses of up to 20% sorbitol in dog food had no effect on overall health.

To put this into perspective, for a dog that weighs 20 lbs., 7.2% sorbitol in diet would equate to a daily intake of about 22 grams of sorbitol. Petonimo has .0007 grams of sorbitol per soft gel.

If you prefer to avoid sorbitol all together, the contents of the Petonimo soft gels may be emptied onto your pet’s food, since sorbitol is only present in the soft gel shell.

Is this product non-GMO? What is it “Free of”?

Petonimo is non-GMO+, dairy-free, and gluten-free. + We do not use ingredients that were produced using biotechnology.

How long does it take to see improvements in my dog/cat’s mobility?
